I'm Katie "Kat," the face behind Kat's Lens Photography. A poet at heart, my art does not end in ink of writing-it extends to where light embraces shadow in photography.
I am your local deaf and autistic photographer.
I see the world differently, not because I'm in high need for glasses, but because my ears do not work, needing hearing aids, and my brain's neurons spark uniquely. You hear noise. I hear silence. In this world, my eyes see things with a sharp focus, details that some may miss.
Cradled in Australia, I dance on the Tropic of Capricorn
I live in regional Queensland. I was born in heat, sun and light, strong space, endless, where the city does not kiss with urban grace. In these lands, you learn how the world functions differently. I photograph with observant eyes and the ability to read light.
My path does not end here.
The world is not small, and my boots are big. Brazil is a constant in my life. It has tattooed such an impact on me long before I waltzed on its soil. I learnt the language before my 2024 trip, and I forged a connection like no other. It has a different heart, thrumming in a different kind of warmth and song.
A dream is to capture your love in a destination wedding in Latin America.

How I photograph Legacy & Grace
I believe in tenderness. My approach is to capture the grace of it, while being observant, allowing for the authenticity of the moment to bloom.
The moment that matters is not just the big. It’s the little moments, where dawn meets the night to bid it good night for slumber.
From the heat of Rockhampton, to Australia wide to across the sea to Brazil—my goal is to see you deeply seen and alive, to see your chapter forged with care, immortalised with my lens.
My tools and methods
My kit is the Canon EOS R3 and my favourite lenses are from 24-105mm to 70-200mm. It is a well balanced kit, allows me to move and capture where life meets light, shadows slithering. Natural light is my favourite, but a well-wielded flash is something to be reckoned with.
Beyond the lens, what will you see?
My work does not end with visual storytelling. I am a lover of language, from the written to foreign, and the truths forged in stories. I am an aspiring journalist with a love for human hearts sparked by my appearance on ‘The Assembly.’ My love for the Portuguese language and its introduction to the Brazilian world have shaped my new reality and how I photograph. From weddings to portraits, my instinct is to understand people beneath the surface, to tell their story authentically.
But enough about me. It's all about you. To capture your life, regardless of the phase, is so, so important to me. Tomorrow is not promised. Photos are a memory for loved ones, and I want to see you beautiful and boldly you. You are as you are.
